MTW has joined the ‘End PJ Paralysis’ campaign (#endpjparalysis), which will be launched across the country on 17 April 2018. We know that staying in bed can do more harm than good, even when you’re not feeling 100% – #endpjparalysis aims to get our patients up, dressed and moving while they are in hospital so we can prevent the problems caused by staying in bed too long and, hopefully, get them home quicker.

To help us get this initiative off the ground, we would like to ask patients coming in to hospital, and their carers, to make sure where possible, they have comfortable clothes to change into while they are being treated. We would suggest the following items:

  • Light, loose-fitting cotton t-shirts or shirts
  • Tracksuit bottoms
  • Comfortable trousers
  • Jumpers
  • Hoodies or cardigans
  • Comfortable and appropriate nightwear to change into at bedtime
  • Comfortable underwear
  • Socks
  • Shoes/slippers
  • Toiletries (for example, toothbrush, toothpaste, hair brush, deodorant etc.)

We aim to provide clean clothes for those patients who are unable to bring these items from home, wherever possible.

To launch this initiative, we are turning the tables, and you may see our staff wearing their pyjamas from 17 to 20 April!
