Having completed a first degree in Pharmacology at the University of Liverpool, Ms Jo Dartnell entered medicine as a mature student at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Medical School.

Qualifying as a doctor in 2004, she moved on to basic surgical training in north east London.

During her Higher Surgical Training in the South East London Region she worked in a number of hospitals as a registrar including Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital, Evelina Children’s Hospital and at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells.

During this training she also gained an MSc in Trauma and Orthopaedics, writing a dissertation on musculoskeletal infection in children which helped to inform national guidelines.

She returned to Evelina Children’s Hospital in 2013 for a Fellowship in Paediatric Orthopaedics and then went on to the National University Hospital in Singapore where she continued Fellowship training and worked as a Senior Lecturer in Orthopaedics.

Gaining her CCT in Trauma and Orthopaedics in October 2014, she was appointed as a consultant at the Trust in March 2015.

Ms Dartnell’s specialist interests include limb deformities, lengthening and reconstruction, paediatric hip surgery (DDH, Perthes’ disease and SCFE) and paediatric knee surgery (sports/trauma/deformity).
