Vinay Bhatia
Dr Bhatia is a consultant cardiologist (appointed in 2009) and Clinical Governance Lead for Specialist Medicine at Tunbridge Wells Hospital.
His formal training took place at Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital, London; Imperial College School of Medicine and Science; The Hammersmith Hospital, London; The Royal Brompton Hospital, London; and The Harefield Hospital, London.
Qualifications: BSc (Hons) – 1991; MBBS (London, 1994); PhD (Imperial College, 2001); FRCP (London, 2012).
His work covers all aspects of general adult acute and elective cardiology, and the teaching of doctors, cardiology trainees and nurses at all levels.
Dr Bhatia has outpatient clinics twice a week, weekly clinical sessions in complex echocardiography and stress echo, and inpatient and elective transoesophageal echocardiogram (TOE) as required.
Specialist expertise
Dr Bhatia covers aa aspects of modern cardiac ultrasound imaging techniques in the diagnosis and management of heart disease, including contrast echocardiography, stress echo, transoesophageal echocardiography and 3D echocardiography, and CT coronary angiography.
His ambition is to build and develop a nationally accredited centre of excellence in echocardiography, stress echo and transoesophageal echocardiography, and to continue to take part in and lead clinical research projects that can lead to improvements in healthcare e.g. new medicines for heart disease.
