Our libraries

We host two library services for use by NHS employees, trainees, medical students and undergraduate healthcare students in the local health economy.

Reference access is available to anyone in these groups during staffed hours. Reference access is also available to patients and the public. Additional services, access to e-resources and out of hours provision may also be available, depending on your employer.

What we do

We offer standard core services to all members, except where licensing arrangements for electronic resources restrict access. These include:

  • Physical access to premises during staffed opening hours
  • Book loans for 4 weeks
  • Leisure reading collections
  • Printing, photocopying, scanning, laminating and binding facilities (charges apply)
  • Access to computers
  • Training (database searching, critical appraisal, study skills)
  • Evidence searching (not available to students)

You can find links to core services via our Library Padlet.

Book club

The MTW Book Club is a bi-monthly reading group that meets virtually on Goodreads, and where possible, via Teams to discuss questions and other ideas related to the medical humanities.

Topics include health, illness and the role of medicine, the body, disability, healthcare and ethics.

To join, register with Goodreads and join our Book Club group

A list of all the titles we have discussed is on the Kent, Surrey and Sussex NHS libraries website.
