MTW launches new five-year strategy

Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust has published its new Strategy for 2026–2031, setting out how we will continue to improve care and develop our services over the next five years.

The strategy, Reshaping how care is delivered, looks at how MTW will respond to growing demand, changing patient needs and a changing NHS, while continuing to provide safe, high-quality care for local communities.

It builds on improvements made over recent years, including investment in the Kent and Medway Orthopaedic Centre, West Kent Community Diagnostic Centre, Fordcombe Hospital, stroke services, robotic-assisted surgery and the Undergraduate Medical Building.

Over the next five years, MTW will focus on making care easier to access and more joined up, making greater use of technology and innovation, developing our workforce and working with partners to provide more care closer to home where it is safe and appropriate.

Chief Executive Miles Scott said:

“We start from a strong position, but we know the needs of our patients and communities are changing and the NHS needs to change with them.

“Our new strategy sets out the direction we want to take over the next five years. Ultimately, success won’t be measured by the plans we publish, but by whether our patients and staff can see and experience a meaningful difference in the care we provide.”
