Despina Mavridou
Miss Despina Mavridou is a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist. She is Lead Clinician for Fertility Services, having trained as a Fellow in Fertility and Assisted Conception.
She specialises in infertility concerns, preconception advice, fertility consultation, ovarian reserve screening, polycystic ovaries, endometriosis, follicle tracking (natural and treatment cycle), ovulation induction, fertility assessment and fertility preservation-egg freezing, intrauterine insemination, IVF and HyCoSy.
Miss Mavridou has extensive training in minimal access surgery and outpatient hysteroscopy, and provides hysteroscopic corrective surgery for uterine anomalies and fibroid resections as part of fertility treatment.
She has special interests in abnormal uterine bleeding, endometriosis, adenomyosis, polycystic ovarian syndrome, assessment of ovarian reserve and is passionate about fertility preservation.
Miss Mavridou is a graduate of The University of St Andrew's in Scotland and Victoria University Medical School in Manchester.
After her junior resident years in the UK, Despina spent some years in the United States as a research fellow in the development of group B streptococcus vaccine at Harvard University, where she was a Harvard University Scholar.
She then stayed on to do her obstetrics and gynaecology residency in St Louis, Missouri before returning to the UK.
She teaches medical students and trainees and her work has been published in High Risk Obstetrics: The Requisites in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
