Mr Alastair Henderson joined Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust in 2010, as a consultant urological surgeon.

He was an undergraduate at Imperial College and St. Mary’s Hospital, London completing his training in 1996.

He completed a three year period of research on prostate cancer in 2003, leading to a PhD. 

His postgraduate training was at Guy’s Hospital in London, as well as other regional hospitals.

This included visits to Seattle where brachytherapy prostate treatment was pioneered at the Seattle Prostate Institute, over two years at Guy's Hospital learning laser, robotic and laparoscopic surgery for kidney and prostate problems, and paediatric training at the Evelina Hospital London.

Mr Henderson has published over 35 papers on urinary, bladder, prostate, testis, hormonal, erectile dysfuction and kidney problems and presented over 50 papers at national and international meetings. 

He has reviewed papers for 10 international journals and was part of the group that first described template prostate biopsies in the UK and has been delivering this advanced technique since publication in 2004.

Mr Henderson is a keen teacher, and listed as a faculty member at international meetings in minimally invasive surgery, brachytherapy and advanced prostate diagnostic techniques. He is the Urology Tutor for the Trust.
