Point of care testing (POCT) is testing performed at or near the site of patient care. It offers a rapid testing service to allow clinically effective decisions to be taken to improve the patient experience.
The POCT team oversee the process with support from the POCT committee to ensure patient safety.
The team provide appropriate training and documentation for use of the devices and have oversight of the performance of the devices through maintenance and quality controls checks.
