Medical Physics provides clinical, scientific, technical and engineering services to the Kent Oncology Centre at Maidstone Hospital and Kent and Canterbury Hospital, other departments at Tunbridge Wells and Maidstone hospitals, and other trusts and organisations.
The department includes the Health Physics and Imaging Group (including Nuclear Medicine Physics), Radiotherapy Physics, Medical Physics Engineering and Computer Sciences, and is part of the Kent-wide Medical Physics Network working in close partnership with the Medical Physics Department at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust.
We also advise on the application of legislation involving ionising and non-ionising radiations and develop processes and procedures to ensure trust compliance with legislation.
The department are proactive in carrying out research and development into new devices and techniques to improve patient treatments, and participate in teaching and training of staff.
