Clubfoot

Clubfoot (also known as talipes) is a condition where a baby is born with a foot, or feet, that turn in.

We care for around 750 patients a year with this lower limb condition, using the Ponseti Method, a non-surgical treatment including gentle manipulation of the feet followed by plaster casts and temporary bracing.

The Ponseti Method is almost 100 per cent effective when properly applied by a healthcare provider and is considered the ‘gold standard’ treatment.

The team includes paediatric orthopaedic consultants, extended scope physiotherapists, and a specialist team of physiotherapists and assistants.

We run weekly clinics and antenatal appointments for parents carrying a baby diagnosed with clubfoot, to help prepare them for when the baby is born.
