Ear, nose & throat (ENT)

The Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) department provides general and specialist ENT care for the local population.

We offer a comprehensive range of treatments in:

  • Thyroid surgery
  • Endoscopic sinus surgery
  • Advanced adult and paediatric otology (ear problems)
  • Surgery for head and neck cancers
  • Surgery for trauma to the nose, head and neck

Our Service

Emergency ENT assessment and surgery is provided at the Tunbridge Wells hospital.

We run clinics at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells hospitals and also provide outreach clinics in Queen Victoria Hospital, Sevenoaks, as well as Crowborough and Edenbridge hospitals.

Planned day-case surgery is undertaken at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells hospitals, with inpatient surgery undertaken at the Tunbridge Wells site only.

Specially trained nursing staff provide micro suction of the ear in nurse led clinics and tracheostomy care.

Head and Neck oncology care is supported by both local and centralised oncology services.

ENT outpatient clinic Sister at Tunbridge Wells Hospital is Emma Sibley and at Maidstone Hospital the outpatient clinic Sisters are Ruth Casey and Carol Ovenden.

Laryngectomy and voice care patients are supported by speech and language team member, Helen Vaughan.

Our department is also supported by doctors in training from the Kent & Sussex Deanery as well as GP trainees, ward- based and clinical specialist nurses.
