Ear, nose & throat (ENT)

The Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) department provides general and specialist ENT care for the local population.

The department offers a comprehensive range of treatments in:

  • Thyroid surgery
  • Endoscopic sinus surgery
  • Advanced adult and paediatric otology (ear problems)
  • Surgery for head and neck cancers
  • Surgery for trauma to the nose, head and neck

Our service

Emergency ENT assessment and surgery is provided at Tunbridge Wells Hospital.

We run clinics at Maidstone, Tunbridge Wells and Fordcombe hospitals and also provide an outreach clinic at  Crowborough War Memorial Hospital.

Planned day-case surgery takes place at Maidstone, Tunbridge Wells and Fordcombe hospitals, with planned overnight surgery taking place only at Tunbridge Wells Hospital.

Specially-trained nursing staff provide micro suction of the ear in nurse-led clinics and tracheostomy care.

Head and neck oncology care is supported by both local and centralised oncology services.

The Clinical Skills team includes Lamberto Lazo, Oksana Gonchar, Nimisha Mootil and Constancia Soares.

The ENT Outpatient Senior Sister for Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells hospitals is Vivian Aderemi.

Laryngectomy and voice care patients are supported by Speech and Language Therapy team member, Helen Vaughan.

The department is also supported by doctors in training from the Kent & Sussex Deanery as well as GP trainees, ward-based and clinical specialist nurses.

Please tell us as soon as possible if you are unwell or unavailable to attend your planned outpatient appointment or surgery, so the date can be offered to another patient.

The Booking Office is open 8am – 6pm, Monday to Friday.
