The Anaesthetics, Peri-Operative, Medicine and Pain (APOMP) team is research-active with opportunities to get involved.
PQIP
The PQIP study is looking at perioperative care of patients undergoing major colorectal non-cardiac surgery to measure complication rates and patient-reported outcomes. This is done via questionnaires via email or telephone at different time intervals of recovery.
How to get involved
Our Critical Care Research team cover three specialties: the Emergency Department (ED); anaesthetics, peri-operative, medicine and pain (APOMP); and intensive care (ITU), and have a successful portfolio of studies.
If you are interested in participating in research and would like some more information about the studies we are supporting, contact the Critical Care Research team at mtw-tr.criticalcare-research@nhs.net.
Previous research in anaesthetics, peri-operative, medicine and pain
SQUEEZE
The aim of the SQUEEZE study was to identify factors (e.g. age, sex, medical conditions, type of surgery and intraoperative management) associated with the requirement of vasopressor medications or lead to the development of AF during or after surgery.
Results have been published for this study.
EMERALD
The aim of the EMERALD study was to learn about how people are treated after they have had a type of operation called an emergency laparotomy. We wanted to understand if the care people receive after their operation has an impact on how quickly they get better. Results coming soon.
