Hypnobirthing is an antenatal training program for pregnant women using relaxation, breathing and hypnosis which helps keep the birthing process natural and gentle. It enables women and their partners to be calm, confident and in control during childbirth. Learning how to be free of fear and tension means that women can embrace the birthing process and place trust in their bodies to birth easily and effectively.
Hypnobirthing is suitable for all women, not just for those with a straightforward pregnancy. For those who may require medical help such as a caesarean or instrumental birth or an induction of labour it can help the couple remain in control at a time when they can be at their most anxious and tense.
The ideal time to attend a hypnobirthing course is between 24 – 36 weeks of pregnancy. Each course comprises four classes of two hours – 7pm – 9pm on Wednesdays at Maidstone and Crowborough Birth Centres. The cost is £140 per four-week course. Only 10 couples per course are booked to allow interaction during the teaching sessions. The hypnobirthing programme can be viewed here.
For further details, cost and booking, contact Janet Bradshaw at Crowborough Birthing Centre on 01892 654080 / 664643 (Tuesdays and Thursdays only 9am – 12pm).
