Professional Profile
Having completed a first degree in Pharmacology at the University of Liverpool, Ms Dartnell entered medicine as a mature student at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Medical School. Qualifying as a doctor in 2004, she moved on to Basic Surgical Training in North East London.
During her Higher Surgical Training in the South East London Region she worked in a number of hospitals as a registrar including Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital, Evelina Children’s Hospital and Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells. During this training she also gained an MSc in Trauma & Orthopaedics writing a dissertation on musculoskeletal infection in children which helped to inform national guidelines.
She returned to Evelina Children’s Hospital in 2013 for a Fellowship in Paediatric Orthopaedics and then went on to the National University Hospital in Singapore where she continued Fellowship training and worked as a Senior Lecturer in Orthopaedics. Gaining her CCT in Trauma and Orthopaedics in October 2014, she was appointed as a Consultant at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust in March 2015.
Ms Dartnell’s specialist interests include limb deformities, lengthening and reconstruction, paediatric hip surgery (DDH, Perthes’ disease and SCFE) and paediatric knee surgery (sports/trauma/deformity).
