Professional Profile

Mr Velayudham completed MBBS and masters degree in Trauma & Orthopaedics in India.  He underwent further post-graduate training in and around London on the South East Thames training programme. Specialty training included a fellowship in complex primary and revision hip replacement at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore and pelvic and acetabular fracture reconstructions at St George’s Hospital, London.

Mr Velayudham has been a consultant at the Kent & Sussex hospital since 2006 (MTW Trust), specialising in hip surgery and providing regional pelvic and acetabular trauma service working in collaboration with King’s college hospital.

He was a clinical tutor for T&O department at Kent & Sussex hospital until we moved to Tunbridge wells hospital 2011. In addition, he helped with the successful implementation of the foundation doctor’s programme in the Trust’s department. Since 2012 he has been clinical governance lead for the orthopaedic department. Currently he oversees various audit projects to maintain and improve the quality of service.

He is interested in teaching and has been a faculty in regional teaching programmes and a regular faculty at KCH FRCS (T&O) revision course.

Mr Velayudham’s research interest includes bone remodeling around hip prostheses, long term outcome studies, optimizing hip replacement alignment etc.
