Professional Profile

Position: Consultant Cardiologist and Clinical Governance Lead for Specialist Medicine, Tunbridge Wells Hospital site. Appointed in 2009.

Formal Training: Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital, London ; Imperial College School Of Medicine & Science; The Hammersmith Hospital, London; The Royal Brompton Hospital, London; The Harefield Hospital, London.

Qualifications: BSc (Hon.) – 1991; MBBS (London, 1994); PhD (Imperial College, 2001); FRCP (London, 2012).

General scope of work: All aspects of general adult acute and elective cardiology; teaching of doctors, cardiology trainees and nurses at all levels; Clinical Governance Lead for Specialist Medicine on the TWH site. I have up to 2 outpatient clinics / week; one each of specialist echocardiography / diagnostic coronary angiography / TOE and 1-2 stress echocardiography sessions / week.

Specialist Expertise: All aspects of modern Cardiac Ultrasound Imaging techniques in the diagnosis and management of heart disease (including contrast echocardiography, stress echo; TOE and 3D echocardiography).

Ambition: To build and develop a nationally accreditated centre of excellence for our Department in Echocardiography, Stress Echo and TOE. To continue to partake in and lead clinical research projects (e.g. Trial Principal Investigator) that can eventually lead to improvements in healthcare e.g. new medicines for heart disease.
