Professional Profile
Dr Bhatia is a Consultant Cardiologist (appointed in 2009) and Clinical Governance Lead for Specialist Medicine.
His training took place at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, London; Imperial College School Of Medicine & Science; The Hammersmith Hospital, London; The Royal Brompton Hospital, London; and The Harefield Hospital, London.
Qualifications: BSc (Hons) – 1991; MBBS (London, 1994); PhD (Imperial College, 2001); FRCP (London, 2012).
Hi general scope of work includes all aspects of general adult acute and elective cardiology, as well as the teaching of doctors, cardiology trainees and nurses at all levels.
Dr Bhatia has up to two outpatient clinics per week, weekly clinical sessions in complex echocardiography and stress echo, and inpatient and elective TOE as required.
Specialist expertise
All aspects of modern cardiac ultrasound imaging techniques in the diagnosis and management of heart disease (including contrast echocardiography, stress echo, TOE and 3D echocardiography) and CT coronary angiography.
His ambition is to build and develop a nationally accredited centre of excellence in echocardiography, stress echo and TOE. To continue to partake in and lead clinical research projects that will lead to improvements in healthcare, such as new medicines for heart disease.
