Dr Jesse Kumar is a Consultant Endocrinologist working at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. Dr Kumar completed his Higher Specialist Training in Endocrinology, Diabetes and General Medicine (Dual accreditation) in the South Thames region (Guy’s and St Thomas’ hospital). He started as a Consultant at MTW in 2006 and has held the above significant posts.
Dr Kumar was awarded the Fellowship of Royal College of Physicians of London in 2013. During this time he worked actively to lead Acute medicine, Diabetes commissioning in West Kent and establish research interest at Maidstone Hospital – Principal Investigator in multi-centred diabetes research trials and has national & international publications. He is actively involved in enhancing local research at MTW.
Dr Kumar’s leads the speciality clinics for radio-iodine in thyroid disorders, Insulin Pump, pregnancy diabetes at Maidstone Hospital and is a core member of the Thyroid cancer MDT. Other clinical practice includes Thyroid, Pituitary, Adrenal, Calcium and Hypogonadism in endocrinology and modern treatments for diabetes (GLP-1 analogues, SGLT-2 and DPP-4 inhibitors) with a view to weight reduction. He also does transition clinics for younger patients in endocrinology.
Dr Kumar has a keen interest in modern technology and humanities, which he believes are important adjuncts to core clinical consultation for effective outcomes. Dr Kumar has worked locally with charities, pharma & CCG to establish the WKPAD which is a non-promotional organisation to support local education for healthcare professionals (GPs, Diabetes Nurses etc). He has a keen interest in modern technology, speaks 5 languages (English, Greek, Hindi, Urdu and Telugu) and is a resident of Kent along with his family of three children.
