Professional Profile
Dr Geraldo Alves de Paula Neto graduated in medicine fromthe Universidade de Alfenas in Brazil, followed by his training as Medical Oncologist at Santa Casa de Ribeirao Preto. After completing his training he moved to Spain and did a fellowship at HM Sanchinarro Madrid where he had contact with a variety of clinical trials and was invited to start his Master’s degree, which he completed in 2017 at Universidad de San Pablo – CEU.
During his Master’s, his research focused on resistance factors for perioperative chemotherapy in gastric cancer. Concurrently, he was appointed as Medical Oncology Consultant in one of the largest public oncology centres in Brazil, Hospital do Cancer do Mato Grosso, and was living between Spain and Brazil.
In 2018, he worked at Newcastle University as a Visiting Research Associate with circulating tumour cells in gastroesophageal and gastric cancer. After a short time working in the UK he returned to Brazil to work in the private health system in Hospital Santa Rosa.
In 2020, he came to the UK to work in one of the world’s most renowned GI units at the Royal Marsden, London. In 2022, he moved to Kent and has been working at the Kent Oncology Centre ever since. He also was invited to speak in several regional and international conferences abroad.
