Professional Profile

Dr Edwards undertook his specialist oncology training in Essex and London, working at institutions such as the Royal Marsden Hospital Chelsea, Southend Hospital, St. Bartholomew’s Hospital and University College London Hospital.

During his training, Dr Edwards undertook a one year Radiation Oncology Clinical Fellowship in Head and Neck Oncology at the Princess Margaret Hospital, in Toronto, Canada, where he gained a great deal of experience with image-guided intensity modulated radiotherapy.

After completing his training scheme at the Royal Free Hospital, he did another clinical fellowship at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, Guildford, where he spent two years performing real-time prostate seed brachytherapy implants and running a phase 2S clinical study of focal prostate brachytherapy, the third trial of its type in the world.

Dr Edwards’ role at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is to care for patients in East Kent with cancers of the urinary tract, such as prostate and bladder cancers, and colorectal cancers. He is based at Kent and Canterbury Hospital and is a member of the Prostate Brachytherapy team at Maidstone Hospital, performing seed (LDR) brachytherapy implants. He is also the local principal investigator for several clinical trials in urological and colorectal cancers.
