Board games worth more than £500 have been donated to Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust.

Zatu Games put together the bundle of presents thanks to its Children’s Hospital initiative which aims to send board games to hospices and hospitals across the UK.

Customers are invited to support the initiative by making a £1 donation when they buy any game online via the company.

Each bundle contains an assortment of board games and activities such as Brainbox, Top Trumps, Connect 4 and Guess Who.

The games which were donated to the Trust via its dedicated charity – Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust Charitable Fund – were recently presented by Chief Executive Miles Scott to staff working on Riverbank ward at Maidstone Hospital.

Fundraising Manager Laura Kennedy said: “We are extremely grateful to Zatu Games and their customers for their generous donation.

“Being in hospital can be a worrying time for some children and young people so these games will no doubt help to put a smile on their faces and help pass the time away too.”

The Children’s Hospital initiative was started by Zatu’s Managing Director, Simon Budd, who spent a lot of time in hospital as a child. Along with his team at Zatu Games, he hopes to make a difficult time a little bit easier for both the children and their loved ones, by providing them with some light-hearted fun in the form of board games.

Marketing Supervisor Rebecca Livermore said: “Our aim is to donate to every single children’s hospice and hospital in the UK – after all, some of these families are having to spend a lot of time in wards with their children and they need help to take their mind off things.”
