From 1 August 2018, our hospitals at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells will be smoke-free. This means no-one will be able to smoke anywhere on-site.

The decision to become smoke-free has been taken because we know smoking has a significant negative impact on people’s health – both those people who smoke and those who are passive smokers.

Chief Executive, Miles Scott, said: “Becoming smoke-free will create a better environment for all users of the hospitals – patients, visitors and staff. There will be signs up and around both hospitals to remind people the hospitals and grounds are smoke-free areas. We would like to thank people in advance for their understanding.”

While smoking will be banned in the outside and surrounding areas of both Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells hospitals, vaping will be permitted in designated areas.
