This Sunday marks the start of Dementia Awareness Week (15 – 21 May). This year, the aim is to encourage people who are worried about dementia to confront their concerns by addressing dementia directly and going to the Alzheimer’s Society for information and support.

There will be stalls in each of our main reception areas throughout the week. A number of different organisations and groups will run the stalls, including Dementia Volunteers, Alzheimers Society, Age UK, Kent Search and Rescue and Carers First. Please do pop along and speak to those running the stands if you would like any information or advice. A full schedule of what’s going on and when can be read here.

Lastly, Liz Champion. the Trust’s Lead Nurse for Dementia Care is seeking donations of wool, buttons, zips, beads and thread to help create Twiddlemuffs – knitted hand muffs with interesting items attached to provide simple stimulation. If you are able to assist with making the muffs, or you have items to donate, please contact Liz via email (liz.champion@nhs.net).
