Trauma surgery
Our dedicated trauma unit provides people living in West Kent with access to enhanced emergency care facilities.
People living in Maidstone, Sevenoaks, Tunbridge Wells and surrounding towns and villages are taken by ambulance for emergency trauma surgery, following major injury accidents, to our trauma unit at Tunbridge Wells Hospital.
The state-of-the-art unit is the first facility of its kind in Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells to have dedicated emergency theatres, its own CT and X-ray machines, and en-suite patient rooms on a trauma ward. The larger specialist teams of surgeons and anaesthetists working jointly in the unit from Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells hospitals are in theatre for longer each day, enabling more patients to have their operations on the day of their accident.
Complex surgery
Maidstone Hospital is the hub for pre-planned complex surgery in West Kent. The hospital specialises in pre-planned inpatient complex and cancer surgery. This allows us to provide patients with even higher standards of care than previously.
Orthopaedic services
More patients with bone and joint disorders are now able to see an expert at our specialist orthopaedic surgery centre.
Orthopaedic surgeons from Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells hospitals have combined their skills and expertise to create one of the largest and most advanced elective orthopaedic departments in the South East at Tunbridge Wells Hospital.
15 orthopaedic consultants lead specialist teams at the centre for the treatment of hip, knee, foot & ankle, shoulder, hand and upper limb conditions.
