Within the Equality Act 2010, there is a statutory requirement for the Trust to publish information to demonstrate compliance with the Public Sector Equality Duty.

The Public Sector Equality Duty came into force across Great Britain in April 2011 which requires all public bodies to consider all individuals when carrying out their day to day work and have due regard for the need to:

  • Eliminate discrimination
  • Advance equality of opportunity
  • Foster good relations between different people when carrying out their activities

Equality and Diversity Network Forums are a recognised medium for providing support of the Equality Duty, are an important tool in delivering business objectives, an opportunity to increase understanding of Equality and Diversity within an organisation and an ability to boost the external reputation of an organisation.
