Miss Khandwala is an Ophthalmic and Oculoplastic surgeon, working as a Consultant at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. After completing her ophthalmic training in Leeds and the South East of England, she undertook two fellowships specialising in eyelid, lacrimal and cosmetic surgery at Maidstone Hospital and Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. Whilst at the latter she was appointed Honorary Lecturer to East Anglia University and was actively involved in teaching medical students.
She has two main sub speciality interests – eyelid surgery and lacrimal surgery or treatment of the watery eye. She works closely with the dermatologists, pathologists and ENT surgeons to provide NHS and private treatment of periocular skin cancer.
She is a member of the following professional bodies:

- British Oculoplastic Surgical Society
- United Kingdom and Ireland Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons
Her research interests include cataract surgery as well as newer ways of imaging eyelid skin cancers. She has several publications in international journals and has delivered several lectures both nationally and internationally in her chosen field.
