Professional Profile
Mr Jenkins is a Consultant Ophthalmologist appointed to the Trust to lead the corneal services in 1997. He qualified at St Thomas’ Hospital in 1984 and trained both at St Thomas’ Hospital, the Western Eye Hospital (affiliated St Mary’s) and completed his training for seven years at Moorfields Eye Hospital, both as a Registrar and a Senior Registrar. During this time he undertook fellowships at Moorfields and also in the United States as a Fulbright scholar at Columbia University and Cornell University (both Ivy League universities).
As a result of Mr Jenkins’ comprehensive training, he has extensive interests, which range from cataract surgery, glaucoma management and surgery, to corneal surgery and the management of macular disease such as retinal vein occlusions and age related macular degeneration.
