Professional Profile
Mr Laidlaw’s undergraduate and initial ophthalmology training were in Newcastle Upon Tyne. Following this he trained in Bristol and then Moorfields Eye Hospital prior to taking up a Consultant appointment between St Thomas’ Hospital London and Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust in 1998. He is a Specialist Vitreoretinal Surgeon.
Mr Laidlaw has published more than 50 research papers. He is actively involved in teaching and training of vitreoretinal surgeons. In 2014 he was elected President of the British & Eire Association of Vitreoretinal Surgeons and is an elected board member of the European Retinal Society (EURETINA).
