Dr Mumford is a consultant microbiologist and completed her specialist training at Charing Cross Hospital and William Harvey Hospital.
Previous posts have included Consultant Microbiologist at William Harvey Hospital and consultant in communicable disease control at Kent Health Protection Unit
Dr Mumford’s particular interest is in infection prevention, infectious diseases and medical management.
She was appointed as Director of Infection Prevention and Control at MTW in 2007 and led a turnaround in infection control across the Trust which resulted in a 94% reduction in C. difficile infection and a 96% reduction in MRSA bacteraemia since 2006. She continues to lead the Infection Prevention strategy for the Trust and the ongoing reduction in healthcare associated infections.
Dr Mumford is leading the pathology transformation project for Kent in partnership with East Kent Hospitals.
