Professional Profile

Dr Rajesh Gupta is a Senior Consultant Paediatrician at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust with more than 25 years of experience in Paediatrics. He has been working at the Trust since 2007 and is currently the Clinical Director for Paediatrics.

He is a General Paediatrician with special interest in Paediatric epilepsy and Neonatology. Appropriate patient management and positive patient and parent feedback lies at the heart of his clinical practise.

Dr Gupta is the lead for Paediatric epilepsy at MTW and runs a busy multidisciplinary service. He has previously been chair for the South East Thames Paediatrics Epilepsy Group (SETPEG) for three years to improve management of children with epilepsy in the region.

Dr Gupta has strong interest in teaching and training of junior doctors and medical students. He has been The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) tutor for Kent Surrey and Sussex deanery paediatric trainees for eight years. Subsequently he was undergraduate tutor for medical students from Guy’s, Kings and St Thomas’ Hospitals for four years. He has been actively involved with Membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH) clinical examination of Paediatric trainees and has been the MRCPCH clinical examiner.

Dr Gupta has undertaken other managerial roles including Neonatal Lead and Clinical Risk Lead during his tenure at MTW.

With his Clinical Director hat he is keen to have staff at all levels including nursing, administrative and medical to join our excellent and enthusiastic team to improve care of children and families. He is always happy to collaborate with stakeholders with a similar aim of raising standards of care and safety of children.
