Professional Profile

Dr James Wilson initially studied Biochemistry specialising in Molecular Neurobiology. He then trained at Guys & St Thomas’ Medical School and at the St George’s School of Anaesthesia.

Dr Wilson carried out advanced training in regional anaesthesia and pain medicine and undertook extensive cancer pain management at St Christopher’s Hospice in South London.

He works as an anaesthetist primarily for orthopaedics , emergencies and complex urological surgery. He has an interest in ultrasound guided regional anaesthesia.

He looks after patients with acute, chronic and cancer pain problems as part of the Trust’s multidisciplinary pain team.  Dr Wilson also performs a wide range of evidence based interventional techniques under X-ray and ultrasound guidance including epidurals, facet joint injections and radiofrequency denervations.

He has a strong interest in education and teaches at the Royal College of Anaesthetists.
