MTW has been recognised as one of the top performing acute trusts in the country and placed in segment 1 of the new NHS England National Oversight Framework (NOF).
The NOF is a tool which measures the performance of all trusts against a number of key metrics. These include waiting times for operations, cancer treatment, time spent in A&E, patient experience, patient safety and finance. These metrics are combined to give each organisation a rating of between 1 at the top, down to level 4. MTW has been assessed against these metrics for acute trusts and placed in the highest segment and ranked 12th out of all acute trusts in the country.
Chief Executive Miles Scott said: “This is a significant achievement which reflects the hard work, dedication, and skill shown across our organisation. Just as importantly it is good news for the communities we serve, as top performing trusts will benefit from greater freedom and investment to enhance and develop the services they provide.“
Mr Scott added: “The framework recognises our strength in leadership, performance, patient safety and governance. We are determined to build on this – working smarter, living within our means and treating more patients so we can deliver even better care in the years ahead.”
Trust Chair, Dr Annette Doherty, said: “We are proud of the progress we have made and our focus is firmly on the future. We look forward to working more closely with our partners across Kent and Medway, transforming services and supporting our staff to ensure patients receive the highest quality care.”
The results for each organisation have been compiled into a league table of NHS trusts which will be updated and published quarterly on an interactive dashboard. This is a visible and accessible way for MTW, our patients and our partners to check and understand how we are performing in key services including urgent and emergency care and elective services.
