Junior doctors at our hospitals are taking part in national industrial action for 72 hours starting at 7am on Monday 13 March. This follows a ballot by the British Medical Association (BMA) and the Hospital Consultants and Specialists Associations (HCSA) whose members voted in favour of industrial action.
Staff across MTW have worked closely together to ensure plans are in place to support patient services, including urgent and emergency care. If a planned appointment is postponed during the industrial action we will contact patients in advance. If you have not been contacted please attend your appointment as planned.
Our Accident and Emergency Departments are open as normal and if you are seriously ill and need urgent medical care it is important you continue to come forward for NHS care. Industrial action does mean services will be under increased pressure so it is vital that people use the services appropriately and save A&E for accidents and emergencies.
If it is not an emergency there are a number of local services available to help you if you need medical advice or treatment. These include visiting a pharmacist, contacting your GP (GP services are not impacted by this industrial action), or visiting 111.nhs.uk.
