An EastEnders star has swapped the Queen Vic pub for her kitchen and substituted pints for eggs to help raise funds for a MTW’s dedicated charity.

Milly Zero, who plays Dotty Cotton – the granddaughter of the legendary character Dot Cotton in the BBC1 soap, was inspired by a friend to take part in the ‘Bake. Donate. Nominate’ challenge which aims to raise £20,000 for the Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust Charitable Fund.

To promote the event Milly appears in a short video below which explains to supporters what they need to do in order to take part – share a photograph of their bake on social media, nominate five people to do the same and use the Instagram tag @MTWbakes along with #mtwbakes and #bakedonatenominate

Milly, who has been nominated as Best Newcomer in the RadioTimes.com Soap Awards, said: “I find baking is really therapeutic for my own health and wellbeing and I enjoyed making a chocolate cake as part of this challenge. I’m asking as many people as possible to bake a sweet treat and donate five pounds to the Trust’s charity via www.justgiving.com/fundraising/mtwbakeoff

Laura Kennedy, MTW NHS Trust’s Fundraising Manager, said: “Donations from this baking challenge will help to fund projects to support staff health and wellbeing which is so critical throughout the Covid-19 response. We’re grateful to all our bakers, including Milly.”
