Earlier this month, staff from the A&E department at Tunbridge Wells Hospital welcomed 11 students aged eight to ten, from Oakley School in Tunbridge Wells, for a visit.

The youngsters did a special ‘become a doctor in an hour’ session with A&E Dr Matt Milner and Matron Stella Davey, which included, bandaging and plastering.

Dr Milner said: “The students from Oakley School seemed to really enjoy their visit. The aim of it was to let them see the department first-hand and meet some of our staff, so they feel more at ease should they ever have to make a visit to A&E, as a patient, in the future.”

Caroline Fish, Teacher and Form Tutor, said: “The children had an amazing time, the hospital staff were fantastic and were not fazed in the slightest by our overly enthusiastic and therefore really quite loud pupils, we could not thank them enough for their time and patience.”

Oakley School is a special school which caters for students aged four to 18, who have severe and/or complex needs, with associated communication and learning difficulties.
