Another Health and Wellbeing day will be run on 18 July to help support people with cancer transitioning from active treatment to a ‘new, normal’ life.

The initiatives are organised and run by the team from Kent Oncology Centre, with Macmillan and other volunteer organisations and are part of the Survivorship programme.

The events are held at Ditton Community Centre and are for patients who have completed, or are nearing completion, of active cancer treatment. The aim is to help those who attend feel supported in managing their transition from treatment such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy or surgery, to a ‘new, normal’ life.

At the Health and Wellbeing day, there will be talks about diet, exercise, financial support, emotional wellbeing and health awareness. There will also be plenty of information stalls staffed by local support services and charities.

Lead Cancer Nurse and Interim Assistant Deputy Chief Nurse from Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust, Gemma Craig, said: “We have run a number of these health and wellbeing days in the past and they have been very well-received. It’s so important to help patients move forward with their lives in a positive way, knowing they have support and advice to hand should they need it.”

Anyone wishing to book a place for the event on 18 July 2017 should contact Sue Wilkins on 01622 227051.
