Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust (MTW) is inviting the local community to an open day at Crowborough Birth Centre in East Sussex to mark its first anniversary under MTW management.

The event will take place on Friday 24th March from 10am until 2pm.

In April 2016 MTW took over the management of Crowborough Birth Centre and all associated community midwifery care for women living in the High Weald area of north East Sussex. MTW Maternity Services were recently rated as the only top performing provider by NHS England.

Crowborough is one of two stand-alone Birth Units, managed by MTW. The other is Maidstone Birth Centre at Maidstone Hospital in Kent.

Karen Leeson, Manager, Crowborough Birth Centre says: “We look forward to showing our facilities to the local community which now includes free wi-fi, a refurbished dining room and six postnatal beds. Our team has worked incredibly hard since MTW took over the Centre’s management and we have a number of drop-in services, such as breast feeding support groups. Guests will be able to enjoy tours of the Centre as well as a tombola, raffle and anniversary cake.”

2017 also marks 90 years of maternity services in Crowborough and 20 years since Crowborough Birth Centre opened.

A cake cutting ceremony will take place for guests at 11am.

Regular tours, including Saturdays, are available at Crowborough Birth Centre by calling 01892 654080.
