The Musculoskeletal Outpatient Physiotherapy department at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust (MTW) has received a generous donation from Maidstone Hospital League of Friends this week, in the form of some brand new anatomical joint models.

The models are used to help physiotherapy patients understand how their joints work, how injuries can affect them and how physiotherapy treatment will aim to help.

Senior Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist, Charlotte Withers, said: “The whole department would like to say thank you to the Maidstone Hospital League of Friends for their invaluable support. These models make it much easier to highlight and explain to patients how an injury has affected their particular joint and how we can help them recover. It can be very difficult to explain this without a visual aid and it’s really important that patients understand what’s happening to ensure their treatment is of maximum benefit. The models really will be of huge benefit to the department.”
