This week, 18 – 27 June, is National Breastfeeding Celebration Week. Our infant feeding specialist team, alongside some of our midwives, PS Breastfeeding volunteers and health visitors, are working together to support breastfeeding in local communities.

The focus of the week this year is looking at how everyone in our communities can help women breastfeed for longer and to breastfeed, whenever and wherever they are.

Our teams and volunteers have been busy visiting local businesses, cafes and restaurants to raise awareness of the importance of welcoming breastfeeding mothers and providing facilities and equipment for women to continue to breastfeed when they return to work.

There is also an information display in our postnatal unit at Tunbridge Wells Hospital and the baby cafe at Manna Cafe in Tunbridge Wells High Street is hosting a celebration event on Friday 24 June.

More information on breastfeeding drop-in groups in Kent and supporting breastfeeding women who are returning to work, can be found on the Kent Baby Matters website.
