Lord North is staffed by specialist haematology nurses and support staff. Patients with leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma and related haematological diseases are treated in this specially designed ward. Patients with compromised immunity are cared for in side rooms with special air filtration facilities.

MAU is a short stay unit where patients can be assessed, their treatment plan decided and treatment commenced. They are then either discharged home or transferred to a general ward where an appropriate bed is available.

MDU	Patients referred to On Call Medical team awaiting a decision to admit	01622 225516	15.00–17.00 18.30–19.30

MDU consists of a waiting room, 2 trolleys and 4 beds that can be utilized for patients that are in the process of being assessed by the on call medical team. Once a decision has been made to admit them to hospital they will be transferred to an appropriate bed (either in MDU, MAU or at times direct to a medical ward if bed available).
