We are here to offer support when coming into Hospital.
Coming into the hospital, even for a short planned visit, can make you and your family very anxious. You may have also have lots of questions and concerns regarding your religious, cultural and dietary needs during your stay in hospital.
Our team of chaplains and visitors are there for all patients regardless of their faith or if they have no faith. They visit the wards regularly and are available to listen to your hopes and fears, joys and concerns – whatever is important to you – and will support you, confidentially, in whatever way is appropriate.
There is a Multi-Faith Chapel/Quiet Room in each hospital for you if you need a place for peace and reflection.
The Chapel/Quiet Room is always open.
You can contact a chaplain during office hours:
If you need to contact a Chaplain urgently, please call the hospital switchboard on 0845 155 1000 and ask for the on-call chaplain. Patients can also ask a member of staff to contact a chaplain on your behalf. Chaplains, like all hospital staff, are bound by strict confidentiality rules.
We have provided some prayers from a variety of traditions which may help you while you are in hospital.
There is a Bible provided by The Gideon’s International in the locker next to your bed. If you do not have one please ask the ward staff to contact the chaplaincy team.
The Bible contains suggested passages of scripture for various circumstances. These suggestions can be found at the beginning of the Bible. If you require other Faith resources please ask and we will try to help provide what you need.
