Phlebotomy

last updated 5 Nov 2014

Phlebotomy is part of the Haematology department and is responsible for collecting blood to test for disease and abnormalities. The Phlebotomy department collects samples from patients in wards, out patient clinics and some GP phlebotomy clinics.

We cannot give results directly to patients. Test results are returned to the GP or consultant who requested the test. Please contact your doctor who will be able to discuss your results with you.

Outreach phlebotomy services are supplied via the PCT.

Please bring your request form(s) with you to the phlebotomy clinic. We cannot take your blood for testing without the request form.

The hospital phlebotomy service is for hospital in and out patients only, and for specialist blood tests as required. These must be arranged by appointment with the phlebotomy service. Please ring
