Some samples are referred to centres of excellence for either initial analysis or for confirmatory/more specialised testing.

These tests are often very expensive and often require special transport arrangements. Request forms should have full clinical details to justify the test. Our laboratory has no control over the time scale for the return of results from samples sent elsewhere, which may vary from one week to several months.
