The Outreach Service offers a variety of hands-on training sessions for its members at the time and place that suits them. Each course offers as much practical "hands-on" experience as possible with expert guidance from the Librarian. Training can occur at a time and place specified by you to ensure it is convenient.
Typical subjects are:
- ~ Literature Searching Skills
- ~ Basic introduction to health and clinical resources on the Internet
- ~ An advanced look at what resources are available and how to get the best evidence.
- ~ Information Skills Training
- ~ Using the internet to find high quality health information (generally using NLH as a base)
- ~ Literature searching using Search 2.0
- ~ The Cochrane Library
- ~ E-mail
- ~ Using the Internet to find the quality health information you need quickly.
- ~ Searching for journal articles using databases such as Medline, BNI and PsycInfo
- ~ Advice on how to access local NHS libraries for information and library services
