CLINICAL DATABASES – available via Athens Login

AMED – Allied and Complementary Medicine Database. It covers journals from 1985- present. Use AMED for: Acupuncture, Herbalism, Reflexology, Iridology, Homeopathy, Holistic treatment, Ayurvedic Medicine, Chiropractic, Occupational therapy, Meditation, Osteopathy, Physiotherapy, Moxibustion, Psychotherapy,Rehabilitation, Healing Research, Yoga, Diet therapy, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Hypnosis, Alexander Technique.

British Nursing Index (BNI) – Covers 220 UK published journals from 1994-present. It complements CINAHL and is particularly good on specialist UK nursing journals not indexed on other databases.

CINAHL– the Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature. This is an American database which covers 1982-present. It covers English language journals from all over the world, some US textbooks (which the libraries do not always have in stock), and US dissertations (difficult to obtain in the UK but useful to read their abstracts). It indexes about 1200 journals of which 800 have abstracts. There is about 30% overlap with Medline.

Health Business Elite Health Business Elite contains full text content from 480 journals, detailing all aspects of health care administration and other non-clinical aspects of health care institution management.

Embase - covers the whole world's biomedical literature whilst concentrating in particular on European sources. 1980 to Present - EMBASE provides current and comprehensive information on drugs and pharmacology, and all other aspects of human medicine and related disciplines.

Medline - Medline is a vast source of medical information, covering the whole field of medicine including dentistry, veterinary medicine and medical psychology. Clinical medicine, anatomy, pharmacology, toxicology, genetics, microbiology, pathology, environmental health, occupational medicine, psychology, biomedical technology, health planning and administration, space life science, and many other related subject areas are included in this highly respected database. PsycINFO- Covers psychological practice and research as well as the related clinical, social and biological disciplines. This includes information on drug and behavioural therapy, treatment of disease, drug addiction, developmental psychology, and educational psychology, as well as the psychological aspects of such areas as linguistics, social processes, pharmacology, physiology, nursing, education, anthropology, business and law.
